Production Context.
Long-term vérité documentary: filming over several years required a trust-based and discreet working relationship with the protagonists and their families.
Teenage protagonists: the sound approach had to remain light, respectful and non-intrusive throughout.
The broader context was one of protest, conflict and pressure around the mine, which called for constant awareness, good judgment and a careful sense of safety on the ground.
Working in the mountains and around the open-pit site also meant knowing when to stay visible and when to remain discreet, depending on the situation.
