Production Context.

  • Highly sensitive observational documentary: the subject required a discreet, respectful and non-intrusive sound approach throughout.

  • Filming in small communities in Zarzis and Lampedusa called for tact, attention to local dynamics and constant trust on the ground.

  • The shoot moved between village locations, desert environments and work on boats, so the setup had to remain light, adaptable and dependable in changing conditions.

  • Some situations required practical adaptation to local access limits: during a women-only wedding in Tunisia, for example, I showed the director how to place the wireless microphone herself, since I could not enter the space.
